In-Stat estimates two-year wait for mobile video

Aug 31, 2006 5:02 PM

The market for long-form (>30 minutes) mobile/portable video content is likely to remain in an experimental phase for at least two years before beginning to gain traction, according to the research firm In-Stat. In-Stat analyst Michael Inouye predicts that there will be more than 50 million portable media players in use worldwide by 2008, but it is not clear if users will prefer an all-purpose multimedia cellular phone or separate voice and multimedia devices.

Information on the research, which covers the worldwide market for mobile and portable video, is available at http://email.in-stat.com/cgi-bin4/DM/y/eywu0HmzXo0K560DhtU0E4.
