Visteon launches in-dash entertainment/GPS system

Visteon has introduced the Visteon Navigation Radio System – a head unit replacement system that combines GPS navigation, iPod/MP3 command and control, Bluetooth hands-free phone with audio streaming, AM/FM tuner, and multimedia disk player for audio CDs and video DVDs. The double-DIN system, with a 7-inch, 480x800-resolution color digital TFT-LCD touch-screen monitor, is available through automotive dealerships and mobile electronics retailers in North America.

Mark Boyle, director of sales and marketing at Visteon Mobile Electronics, said the system is compatible with existing steering wheel controls on most vehicles, as well as with rear (backup) cameras and satellite radio modules.

With a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,200, the system includes a 4x45-watt peak power amplifier and 5.1 channel surround-sound pre-amp outputs, plus a USB port, SD Card slot, and RCA jacks for audio/video inputs. The navigation system features voice guidance, and includes a Tele Atlas map database with more than 10 million points of interest. The system's button backlights can be customized to the dashboard control colors for a "factory" appearance.
