Solomon awarded patent for electric drive technology

Feb 5, 2009 2:11 PM

Solomon Technologies has been awarded Patent No. 7,481,730, “Multiple Input, Dual Output Electric Differential Motor Transmission System.”

Solomon president Peter W. DeVecchis, Jr. said the new patent is adjunct to Solomon's Electric Transaxle patent. The firm’s technology provides a complete power drive solution for hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and plug-in electric vehicle architectures without the need to modify the existing chassis.

DeVecchis said that when the technology is fully implemented, it will be possible for a consumer to drive into an automotive service center with a gas-powered car, have it converted, and drive away with a PEV or HEV within hours.

Solomon is working with and seeking additional industry partners to develop universal, drop-in electric drives to address the growing conversion market as well as for OEM deployment.
