Silicon Laboratories achieves TS-16949 quality registration

Jun 19, 2008 12:43 PM

Mixed-signal IC developer Silicon Laboratories has achieved International Standards Organization/Technical Specification (ISO/TS)-16949:2002 quality registration, a milestone that simplifies manufacturing by reducing internal audit requirements and increasing supply chain efficiency. Meeting the qualification is required to supply products to automotive customers.

Based on ISO9000 standards, TS-16949 provides for continual improvement while emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. Silicon Labs’ 8-bit C8051F52x and C8051F53x microcontroller families are automotive qualified and currently being designed-in for body control applications such as fluid level monitoring, seat position and adjustment, window lifters, steering angle sensors and back-up cameras. The devices are designed to operate across the –40 ° C to +125 ºC automotive temperature range and they integrate a ±0.5 percent precision internal oscillator and a 12-bit ADC in packages as small as 3x3 mm.
