SANYO selects Altera FPGAs for rear-view camera system

Jan 3, 2008 12:49 PM

Altera Corporation said SANYO Electric Co. is using Altera Cyclone II field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) with a Nios II embedded processor in SANYO’s CCA-BC200 aftermarket rear-view backup camera system. The single-chip Cyclone II FPGA and Nios II processor combination is said to provide an image-processing solution that minimizes distortion in wide-angle views and hard-to-interpret perspectives. Altera said the approach provides a more compact and reliable solution compared to digital signal-processing (DSP) device-based approaches that can require two or more devices.

The CCA-BC200 connects to a car's video monitor system, digitally correcting images for precise and natural views.
