Feb 1, 2006 5:31 PM

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. has delivered five hydrogen-fueled Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles to the city of Santa Ana, CA as part of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) program to develop and demonstrate 30 such vehicles in Southern California. The vehicles’ internal combustion engines have been modified by Quantum to burn gaseous hydrogen.

The hydrogen internal combustion engine fuel system includes patented fuel injectors, fuel rails, an electronic control system and software, hydrogen storage, and an optimized turbocharger. The vehicles have been designed and tested to achieve super ultralow emissions vehicle (SULEV) emissions standards.
