Sep 22, 2006 2:55 PM

QUALCOMM Incorporated (www.qualcomm.com) and Continental AG (www.conti-online.com) have signed an agreement that gives Continental a worldwide license to develop, manufacture and sell CDMA2000 wireless telematics modules based on QUALCOMM CDMA (code division multiple access) patents. Marvin Blecker, president of QUALCOMM Technology Licensing, said the agreement “contributes to fulfilling (Continental’s) vision of enhancing passenger safety and automotive performance and services through the integration of CDMA2000 wireless communications with their automotive products."

"Vehicle manufacturers can now offer drivers advanced wireless communications and safety solutions that help avoid and minimize the effects of crashes, including features such as post crash safety and emergency assistance of occupants while on the road," said Bill Kozyra, president and CEO, Continental Automotive Systems, North America.
