Sensor Products offers electronic pressure mapping systems

Dec 20, 2007 4:05 PM

Sensor Products is offering real-time dynamic electronic pressure-mapping systems under the Tactilusbrand. The systems are used to map pressure distribution between any two contacting surfaces quickly and accurately during research and development, or for failure analysis and quality control.

The systems can authenticate circumferential uniformity and determine appropriate tensioning on cylindrical clamps. They can also be used on brakes, lamination, door seals, tire tread footprints, seats, and windshield wipers, and in controlled impact testing.

The Tactilus system includes a matrix-based sensor mat, controller, and software that runs on a personal computer. The system conforms to highly curvaceous surfaces and intolerant environments. Tactilus software offers 2-D and 3-D imaging, region-of-interest viewing, longitudinal and latitudinal analysis, graphical displays of data in bar, pressure vs. time, line scan, histogram and isobar charts, statistical analysis of average/minimum/maximum pressures, total force over any selected area, and more. The data may also be exported to virtually any third party software.
