Pulstar capacitor-enhanced spark plugs pass fuel efficiency tests

Feb 1, 2006 5:38 PM

Ignition products company ENERPULSE Inc. says its patented Pulstar pulse plug prototype demonstrated a 2.7% improvement in vehicle fuel efficiency compared with conventional spark plugs in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) FTP 75 testing as well as in company tests. ENERPULSE CEO Daniel Parker says the improvement "is nearly triple the industry-desired 1% (fuel efficiency) improvement and surpassed ENERPULSE's own goal of a 2% improvement."

Parker says Pulstar is capable of delivering 10,000 times the energy of an average spark plug and has the potential to provide increased torque and horsepower and reduced hydrocarbon emissions as well as better fuel efficiency.

ENERPULSE is seeking a second round of investment capital to finance a Pulstar product launch.
