Nissan lauds Iteris and Valeo for LDW

Jul 20, 2005 5:07 PM

Iteris Inc. and Valeo have received Nissan's 2005 Global Innovation award for their lane departure warning (LDW) technology. The LDW system was first installed as an option on Infiniti’s 2005 FX sport utility vehicles and is now available as an option on the 2006 Infiniti M mid-size luxury sedan. To date, more than 10,000 LDW units have been shipped to Infiniti.

The LDW system uses a vision-based camera and proprietary software algorithms to monitor the lane markings in front of the vehicle. If a driver makes an unintentional lane departure (without using a turn signal), the system emits an audible warning that alerts the driver to take corrective action.
