Jul 19, 2007 11:54 AM

NAVIGON has introduced two branded personal navigation devices, the 7100 and the 5100. Both feature 2-D and 3-D maps and real-time traffic that works without a subscription.

Sporting a 4.3-inch color touch-screen display, digital map information from NAVTEQ, and five ZAGAT survey destination guides, the 7100 includes Reality View, a feature said to reduce driver stress by providing photo-realistic 3-D images of complicated highway interchanges, and Lane Assistant, which guides drivers to the best lane relative to the route. Text-to- speech technology provides spoken driving directions and street names and the device works with Bluetooth mobile devices. Its suggested retail price is $649.

Budget travelers may opt for the $499 5100, which has a 3.5-inch touch-screen. It measures 4.2 in. x 3.3 in. x 0.9 in., weighs 6.35 ounces, and is less than an inch thick. It includes subscription-free real-time traffic, the ZAGAT survey guides, Reality View, Lane Assistant, and text-to-speech.
