Micron offers automotive imaging technology

Nov 27, 2006 11:28 AM

Micron Technology has introduced a DigitalClarity line of image sensors to meet the performance requirements of “smart cars.” “We estimate that by the year 2015, there will be five to 10 cameras on a car,” said Bob Gove, vice president of Micron’s imaging group.

Micron’s MT9MV125 targets “scene-viewing” applications, including backup cameras and driver assistance. Micron’s MT9V022 addresses “scene understanding” applications such as smart airbag deployment, lane tracking and departure warning. Operating from -40°C to 85 °C and –40 °C to +105 °C, the image sensors feature “TrueSNAP global shutter technology for capturing fast-moving images without blurring, and they have a sufficiently high dynamic range to capture images that contain areas of relative darkness (less than 2 lux) and objects in direct sunlight. Micron also offers extended temperature (-40 °C to 85 °C) DRAM products.
