Melexis and UMC said they are delivering chips for sensors and other automotive applications using UMC’s 18 µm eFlash process and eFlash macro. Melexis’ products include Hall-effect, optical, infrared and micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors; low-power RF, RFID and automotive buscommunication ICs; actuator ICs for electric motors, solenoids and LEDs, and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). The chip developer and the foundry have been collaborating for several years.
