Intel Corporation and the BMW Group have agreed to work together to develop an industry specification for seamless integration of third-party devices including phones and portable music players into BMW vehicles. Details were not forthcoming.

Under the comprehensive, multiyear partnership, Intel will support BMW in standardizing the IT infrastructure in BMW Group data centers worldwide and will provide IT solutions to more than 3,000 BMW dealers. The BMW Group will convert its corporate notebooks to Intel Centrino mobile technology-based systems and will increase its use of Intel-based PDAs. Intel will become an Official Corporate Partner of the BMW Sauber F1 team.
