In its quarterly QuickView of vehicle models and equipment, Autobytel Inc.'s Automotive Information Center said the number of available hybrid models and trims has tripled since 2003, from six trim types on three models to more than 21 trim types on nine models. Honda has the most, with three models and nine trim types. Early hybrids were primarily available as compact sedans, but Autobytel noted “a definitive trend” toward applying hybrid technology to larger vehicles. Of 17 hybrid models scheduled for release, six are SUVs, six are mid-sized sedans and two are full-sized sedans.

Autobytel also said 22 models available in the United States offer DVD players as a standard feature. Nine of those are from General Motors. DVD is an option on 19% of all vehicles.
