Two new Aureus audio digital signal processors from Texas Instruments promise a 50% performance improvement at no increase in price. The 300 MHz TMS320DA710 and 250 MHz TMS320DA708 can be used in automotive jukeboxes as well as in other applications requiring audio decoding and simultaneous high-speed encoding.

TI said a complete 7.1 system would require only 22% of the available performance of a DA710 processor, leavig nearly 80% of the device's potential available for customization. The DA7xx family is based on TI's C6000 DSP architecture and is code compatible with previous Aureus devices.
