DENSO opens new automotive electronics plant in Tennessee

Apr 10, 2008 5:19 PM

DENSO Corporation has opened a fourth manufacturing plant at its DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee facility in Maryville. Production has already begun at the new plant. DENSO currently employs nearly 3,000 people in Tennessee and expects to hire an additional 500 employees by 2010.

The new plant includes production lines transferred from DMTN's existing electronic products plant and will focus entirely on body electronics: remote keyless entry, auto air conditioning control units, tire pressure monitoring systems and body control modules. DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, founded in 1988, produces electronic products, instrument clusters, starters and alternators.

In the Americas, DENSO employs more than 17,000 people with consolidated sales totaling $6.5 billion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007. Globally, DENSO employs approximately 112,000 people in 32 countries and regions. Consolidated global sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007 totaled $30.6 billion.
