Sep 1, 2006 11:06 AM

Austrian Research Centres’ arsenal research subsidiary (www.arsenal.ac.at) has selected Concurrent’s (www.ccur.com) real-time Linux software and NightStar development tools for hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) of electric drives and powertrains for hybrid electric vehicles. The firm uses Modelica libraries (www.modelica.org) for modeling and simulation of mechanical, electrical and thermal components and systems. Its test drive bed has a maximum power of 100kW, maximum speed of 8000 rpm and maximum torque of 600 Nm. Concurrent’s real-time software is said to provide improved processing speed compared with Microsoft Windows.
