Cobasys, a joint venture of Chevron Technology Ventures LLC and Energy Conversion Devices Inc., has achieved ISO/TS 16949 certification, which is the de facto standard for automotive component manufacturers. Cobasys specializes in advanced nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery system solutions.

Separately, Cobasys will work with Motorola to develop and manufacture battery control system components for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) battery systems. The hybrid battery pack controller, which integrates Motorola hardware with Cobasys software, will monitor and control the hybrid battery pack and perform diagnostics for Cobasys’ NiMH battery system.
