OEM automotive electronics market growing by 7% per year

Aug 3, 2005 3:56 PM

Worldwide demand for automotive electronics for OEM use is forecast to rise 7% annually to $117 billion in 2009, much more rapidly than vehicle production itself, according to a report from Electronics.ca Publications.

Some electronics systems (such as electronic engine controls, transmissions and fuel injection systems) are maturing in North America, Western Europe and Japan, and the industry is entering the next phase of evolution, characterized by strong demand for safety, entertainment, and communications systems, according to the report.

The study provides historical demand data (1994, 1999, 2004) plus forecasts to 2009 and 2014 for six regions and 22 countries worldwide. It also presents market share data and profiles 46 global industry competitors. Additional information is available at www.automotive-electronics.ca/automotive_electronics.html.
